We have four distinct seasons. Spring with flowers; Summer not that hot; Fall with colorful foliage; and winter not that cold. But we do see snows a couple of times.
Richmond is the Capital of Virginia. One hour west we go up to Appalachian Mountains, scenary Charlottesville, Shenandoah National Park; Two hours east we come to Atlantic Ocean; Two hours north we come to Capital Washington DC. We can drive all the way south to Florida beach.
Low Cost to work and to live
Compared with other metro area in the United States, Richmond is small in size and population. Average commute is less than 30 mins. Salary level is comparable with national level, but living expenses is much lower.
I know some people relocated to Washington DC. Their salary increased not much, but living expenses, cost to work is much higher.
